VetoInbox
Private beta · works with Gmail

Political email you never asked for. Gone from your inbox.

VetoInbox watches your Gmail and quietly moves political fundraising and campaign email to Trash. It does not matter who sent it. Every party, every PAC, every candidate is treated the same.

Why unsubscribing does not work

You gave $5 once, or signed one petition. Now you get dozens of emails a day from committees you have never heard of. You unsubscribe, and new senders appear.

The reason is a gap in the law. The federal CAN-SPAM Act regulates only commercial email, meaning email whose primary purpose is to advertise or promote a commercial product or service. A donation request is not that. So political email is not covered by CAN-SPAM’s commercial-email rules. Those rules are the ones that require an unsubscribe link and require senders to honor opt-outs within 10 business days.

The result: political senders have no federal duty to honor your opt-out, and campaigns can rent and swap email lists legally. Gmail’s own tools work one address at a time, so every new committee starts fresh.

Sources: 15 U.S.C. §7702 (definition of “commercial electronic mail message”); FTC CAN-SPAM compliance guide; Texas Tribune, 2018. This follows from the statute’s wording. It is not legal advice.

How it works

Connect Gmail

Sign in with Google and approve access. VetoInbox needs permission to label and move messages.

Preview first

For the first 3 days, VetoInbox only labels mail it would remove. Nothing moves. You check its work on your dashboard.

Political mail goes to Trash

When the AI is more than 99% sure a message is political mass mail, VetoInbox labels it Auto/Political, marks it read, and moves it to Trash.

Undo anything

Trash keeps mail for 30 days. One click on the Removed page restores a message. You can also always allow a sender.

Built to be fair and safe

Block them all equally

VetoInbox does not care about party. It looks at whether a message is a political solicitation, not at who sent it or what they believe.

Careful by design

It acts only at over 99% confidence. It never touches mail from people you have written to. It never marks mail as spam, so it does not affect any sender’s reputation. It never deletes permanently.

Your inbox stays private

No person reads your email. We do not sell it, show ads, or train AI models on it. See the privacy policy.

You are in control

Pause any time, keep a list of senders you want to hear from, or delete your account and all stored data.

You are not the only one

In 2022, the Federal Election Commission received more than 2,600 public comments on a Gmail political-email proposal. Most came from ordinary people frustrated with unwanted political email. Here is what some of them wrote.

“nearly every political e-mail that I have ever received has been unsolicited and unwanted.”

“When I unsubscribe from one candidate’s spam, they sell my information to two others.”

“It is impossible to shut off! ... I block, unsubscribe, set as spam, and they still keep coming! Help us!”

“I wish I could block them altogether.”

VetoInbox is in an invite-only beta with a small group of Gmail users. Leave your email and we will invite you when there is space. The beta is free.

Beta note: during the beta, Google shows an “unverified app” screen when you connect. This is expected. We have not yet completed Google’s full security review, which we plan to do after the beta. Your invite email explains each step.

We use your email only to contact you about VetoInbox. No spam, and no political mail. Prefer email? Write to support@vetoinbox.com.
